MVGSA FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (FAQs)
At what age can a player start playing softball for our league? - The player MUST be 4 years old by Opening Day for that specific season.
What is the age requirement? - You MUST be age appropriate on August 31st of the current year for the current season (for example, the division that you are age appropriate for Fall 2023 will be based on your age as of 8/31/2023) . Please refer to the current Age Chart.
What are the age groups? - 6U (5 - 6 years old) / 8U (6 - 8 years old) / 10U (9 - 10 years old) / 12U (11 - 12 years old) / Uppers (13 - 18 years old) depending on the birth year. Please refer to the current Age Chart.
Does my daughter need to have experience? - Not at all! All levels are welcome, as we provide support and have coaches who can teach the game. All Player no matter what how long they've played are always learning. We foster a environment for all to thrive and play.
When are the regular seasons? - Spring season is usually from January to early May. Fall season is usually from August to mid-November.
What's included in the registration fee? - Team jersey, team/individual pictures, and field usage. Umpire fees are only for the 8U, 10U, 12U, and Uppers divisions.
Where are the practices and games held? - Team practices during the season are held at various Murrieta parks - Cal Oaks Sports Park, Mountain Pride, Rancho Acacias, Shady Maple Park, and other parks that City of Murrieta allocates to our league. The majority of our games are held at Cal Oaks Sports Park on Saturdays and some weekday games for the lower divisions, and night games for the 12U and Uppers divisions.
When will I be notified of team practices? - Parents will be notified of team info such as practices and games after the player draft night. We suggest to coaches to call their parents either that same night of the player draft (depending what time the player draft finishes) or the next morning.
What equipment will be needed? - Softball helmet, softball bat (please check the list of non-approved USA Softball bats here), softball glove, cleats, and softball pants. Please note that metal cleats are only permitted in the Uppers Division.
WAIT LIST Registration? If you are on the Wait List, you will be placed on a team IF/WHEN a spot opens up on a team for that division based on the order of your registration. If you do NOT get placed on a team, you will receive a refund on the amount that you had paid.
Sister Discount - $10 will be deducted from each additional registrations after the first registered player.
Draft Requests - We do not fulfill any special requests for draft, i.e, cousins being on the same team, players being on the same team for carpool purposes, etc.
Non-Residents - We suggest that non-residents register early. Once we have reached our allowed non-residency % from the City of Murrieta, we will move new non-resident registrations to the Wait List. If your street name does NOT appear in this list - Murrieta City Zone Streets, you will be considered a Non-Resident.
